Q. What are the age groups for Delphos Youth Football?

A. DYF provides a flag group ages (5 – 9) and midget ages (8 – 12). The cutoff date is Aug 31st.

Flag has an upper and lower. This is based off grade. K - 1 is the lower and 2 – 3 is upper.

Midget:

Junior Varsity Eligibility:

Eligible Ages: 8, 9, & 10 years old are eligible to participate. JV is a 3rd and 4th grade league with an exception if your child is 5th grade and under 120 pounds.

Varsity Eligibility:

Eligible Ages: 9, 10, 11, & 12 years old are eligible to participate. Once your child plays up he can not go back down to play JV.

Q. What is the weight limit?

A. Flag there is no weight limit just age restrictions.

Midget:

Junior Varsity Eligibility will have no weight restrictions. All skill positions will be under 105 pounds when advancing the ball. Then will have a 2nd weigh-in before post season and the weight limit moves to 110.

Varsity Eligibility will have no weight restrictions. All skill positions will be under 120 pounds when advancing the ball. Then will have a 2nd weigh-in before post season and the weight limit moves to 125.

Players over 105 (JV) and 120 (V) lbs. are classified as Non- Skilled and only eligible to participate in the following positions. Offensive Linemen & Defensive Linemen. This includes positions Guard, Center, and Tackle on Offense. Defensive End, Guard, Nose Guard, and Tackle on Defense.

Q. Are 7th graders allowed to play midget football?

A. No 7th graders are eligible to play.

Q. What are the fees?

A. Fees are based on the amount of participants you have:

Flag and Cheer child - $35

Midget - $50

Q. What if I can't pay the full amount?

A. Please reach out to us delphosyouthfootball@gmail.com. We will work with you on the payment and find a solution.

Q. What days are practice and games on?

A. Flag: the lower division games are held on Tuesday and the upper division will be held on Mondays. Practice is up to the coaches but there is usually 2 practices a week before the season and 1 practice during the season. Each flag team will be playing during the half time of the midget JV team.

Midget: will hold 3 practices during the week and all games (jv and varsity) on Sundays.

Q. Where are games played?

A. Flag games will be played in Delphos behind the visitor stands and at Smiley Park in Van Wert.

Midget travels to multiple locations.

Q. How long does the season last?

A. Flag football season starts 1st week in August and ends 2nd week of October.

Midget football season will start the 1st week in August and end the 1st week of November.

Q. What kind of the cleats can the kids use?

A. Kids can use molded cleats. Absolutely no metal tipped cleats.

Q. What are the requirements for Cheerleaders?

A. Anyone can sign up for Cheerleading this year.

Age requirement is 5 - 12.

Q. What are the cheerleading fees?

A. They are added to the amount of participants. If you have a cheerleader and midget player price would be $60 ($30 each).

Q. What if I have a cheerleader that has a cousin on the team?

A. We will try to accommodate your request however it can not be guaranteed.

Q. What if my child that is a cheerleader has a younger sibling that would be playing midget in a couple years?

A. If your child is assigned a Midget team and their younger sibling is picked in the draft by another team. The cheerleader follows the team the that midget player gets drafted to.
